Family

How is Parvana's family different from many other Afghan families?

  1. Parvana's family is different from other Afghan family because she has to dress up like a boy just to get things example-food, water and money. That is the only way the family can survive.

  2. Parvana's family is different from other families because they don't have a male currently living with them except for Ali. Although Ali is a toddler, so he can't do much. Her family has people with completely different personalities. For example, Parvana is very brave and courageous while Nooria is scared and nervous. It's amazing how different each family is!

  3. Parvana's family is different from other Afghan families because besides Father there are no men or boys. It is sad that Parvana has to dress up like a boy so she can do the things outside of the house that need to be done for the family. Father cannot because he is in jail or dead. Luckily, Parvana ran into Mrs. Weera, and she riled up the troops so the family would survive because Mother has been depressed with Father not there.

  7. Parvana's family is different because they have a very caring friend, and most people don't. They also have a son that is dead and don't have a son old enough to go out and do house work.

  8. Parvana's family, unlike most Afghani families, is literate. Father and mother went to a university, and the whole family is educated.

  13. The difference between Parvana's family and other Afghan families is that there is no male figure currently living in the house other than Ali who is too young to do anything. Also, Nooria, Parvana, Mother, & Father are all educated unlike most of the Afhani children and women. :)
